HOW TO TRANSCRIBE SCATTERPLOT a guide I'd like the Scatterplot transcriptions to follow a certain format. This is both for consistency and to allow me to do some error checking. To start with, I have many of the scripts (currently, the vast majority of those for comics #302 through the end) in the /scripts directory. Check there first - it may make your job easier, though they may need editing to fit the format below, because they're my raw files. For example, the script for comic #314 would be at: http://www.scatterplot.net/scripts/314.txt The main transcription format should be by panel, as follows: Panel N: description of the visual scene, if desired/important Caption: This would be something in a square box. Character 1: This would be a character takling. Character 2: (thinking) This would be a character thinking. SFX: Soundeffect! Here's an important point: In the main transcriptions, leave all errors as they are. However, in any place where there is an error - spelling, plot, continuity errors, anything of the sort - put a note at the end of the transcription like these: [ERROR] "Talking" is misspelled in Character 1's line in Panel 1. or [ERROR] Charles should be wearing glasses. Things like that. I'll be using these error tags to correct errors in the comics so they can be printed. So you're doing some proofreading for me, which allows me to focus on the technical aspects of getting a book together. One more point - please type the dialogue in normal capitalization - no all-caps for bold sections or anything. Unless you think it appropriate. For example, in "l33t gaming tower of GOD", "GOD" could be an appropriate capitalization. (Also, in the comic this was not spoken, but instead written in the drawing. This would likely show up in the panel's "visual description.")
